COVID19 LOCK DOWN RULES EASED.

I have now realised why we were all so good at staying safe and indoors during the previous period of lock down.

Previously we could only exercise once a day but now I think we can do it as much as we have the stamina for which is good news for keep fit fanatics, unfortunately as all I have been doing is sitting on my bottom trying to finish the book I’m writing it will make little difference to me.

As I understood it before, I could visit my parents but only one at a time although I’m not sure if we had to do it outdoors or if we would be permitted to go inside or chat to one in the garden whilst waving to the other through the window but once again this will make little difference to me unless the Government has found a way to raise the dead.

The rules seem a little unclear as to whether one can have a barbecue although I think we can now gather in groups of six although I have no idea if they have to be all from the same family or whether you have to be part of that family.

Some shops will be permitted to open as long as you social distance when in them which may be a little tricky in some of the smaller local shops one might want to visit, but you can’t go to a pub or restaurant no matter how far you keep apart, although I have heard of pubs doing take away beer.

I have seen on the television vast numbers of people congregating on our beaches, parks and beauty spots, although I have no idea if this is within the guidelines or not.

Apparently football is starting again although the stadiums will have to remain empty, I’m not sure about the rules concerning most football players tendency to spit all the time when playing but as I can’t stand football, once again it will make very little difference to my life.

Do forgive me if I have left out some of the new rules as it all seemed to get lost in the confusion and fog surrounding them, perhaps my attempt to clarify the rules for you has not been quite as useful as I was hoping.

As I said at the beginning of this post I now realise why we were so good at following the rules in the first place and as it is my intention to finish my book before Covid 19 is over I shall continue to observe the rather simple instructions we had at the start.

STAY INDOORS, KEEP SAFE, FINISH BOOK, RUSH OUT LIKE A MAN POSSESSED WHEN THE ALL CLEAR SIREN SOUNDS OR THE CHURCH BELLS RING AGAIN!

About The Diary of a Country Bumpkin

I am a retired actor, although to be honest I only retired because I wasn't getting any work due to losing my agent when I became a full time carer to my mother who had dementia. and the option of becoming an unemployed actor/waiter at my age was ludicrous, especially as my waiting skills are non-existent. Having said I’m retired, I don’t think there really is such a thing as a retired actor for I am still available for work, I just don’t have an agent or any connections with regards to obtaining any worthwhile work. I have over the years done student films when there is nothing else available, always low paid (if at all) the only incentive was always the promised copy of the finished film for your show reel which nine times out of ten always failed to materialise. I spent many years looking after my aged mother and shortly after her death I was lucky enough to run into an ex-girlfriend of many years ago and our romance blossomed once again, resulting in us getting married in 2013. My move to the countryside inspired me to write The Diary of a Country Bumpkin which tells of my continuing dilemmas in dealing with the rigors of the countryside from the unexpectedly large number of pollens, fungal moulds and hay products waiting to attack the unsuspecting townie. I enjoy writing, see my play Dulce Et Decorum Est Pro Patria Mori on The Wireless Theatre Company, The Plays Wot I Wrote and The Battle of Barking Creek both available on Amazon.co.uk and am very fond of classic cars so my ideal occupation would be acting in a film I had written set in the 1930s/40s, we live in hopes. I am delighted to say that since venturing to the countryside where space is not quite the premium it is in town, I have due to the availability of two double garages acquired more classic cars to form a small collection the pride of which are a 1947 Bentley Mk VI and a 2000 Bentley Arnage. My various blogs and websites are continually evolving and I’m sure that by following the appropriate links you will find something which will edify or amuse. I have written a number of different books all available on Amazon, so don't be shy should you feel the urge to purchase. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mr-Joe-Wells/e/B06XKWFQHT/ref=dp_byline_cont_book_1

  1. Here in Western New York, we’re in Phase I reopening (manufacturing, construction). Today we’re awaiting news as to whether Phase II (office jobs) will start on Monday, which means I would have to go back to work on Monday. I think some regions in New York will be in Phase II next week, but Western New York is still iffy as there are still a lot of new cases and new hospitalizations every day. Like every one else, I don’t really want to go back to work – but I do want to get a hair cut. And that might not be until Phase II – another 3-4 weeks away! Such stress. 🙂

  2. ….and of course we all know what to do when we need our eyes testing!

    • I’m beginning to think I should have been in PR, it’s not rocket science, if you want to visit a beauty spot, do it to check you are fit enough to drive home, (not to check your eyesight) or visit the beauty spot on the way home, that way when you have to stop it’s because you are overcome with fatigue. Should the Government require my services I am available but I don’t come cheap!
