Video footage posted on social media showed two people wearing white shirts running up to the Stonehenge monoliths with spray paint canisters around 11am.
Two Just Stop Oil protesters have been arrested on suspicion of damaging some of the stones at the ancient site near Salisbury, Wiltshire Police said.
The protesters were seen being marched away from the site by several police officers in a separate video posted by Just Stop Oil, who said the pair had been taken into custody.
I suppose they have to be arrested, on suspicion, until such time as the video evidence is produced in court proving they are guilty of the offence, when a jury of their peers will then find them innocent.
Now, some people may find this a rather strange way for the legal system to work, for I would have thought that if there were video evidence of criminal damage being committed, one has to trust in the legal system to arrive at a guilty verdict. Let’s hope so.
One has to wonder however, why these individuals would target Stonehenge in a Just Stop Oil protest, when as far as I know Stonehenge is Solar Powered!
I am a retired actor, although to be honest I only retired because I wasn't getting any work due to losing my agent when I became a full time carer to my mother who had dementia. and the option of becoming an unemployed actor/waiter at my age was ludicrous, especially as my waiting skills are non-existent.

I have over the years done student films when there is nothing else available, always low paid (if at all) the only incentive was always the promised copy of the finished film for your show reel which nine times out of ten always failed to materialise.

Justice may well have seen the stones fall on them but that would have been a sad loss to tourism!
I was shocked by their actions. Not that I don’t sympathise with the cause but to deface an ancient monument is just wrong.
It’s also criminal damage, which is against the law.
