I recently received the following email from Google Search Console and I imeadiately thought to myself, well of course, what a fool I have been to have not noticed I have duplicated without a user-selected canonicaland what course of action should I take to remedy the situation.
If this reason is not intentional, we recommend that you fix it in order to get affected pages indexed and appearing on Google.
Then the thought crossed my mind that I haven’t the faintest idea who on earth this message means, let alone know what to do to rectify the situation. So, having given the matter some thought I decided the best course of action was to keep calm and carry on and to ignore the message which is what I have done.
I think it’s safe to say that this couse of action has solved the problem as I can see no discernable difference in any of the actions my rather old and dilapidated computer is doing, there again proving the old adage, if it ain’t broke, it don’t need fixing.
On the other hand, if anyone out there has the faintest idea what this is all about and what actions to take to solve the problem, don’t hesitate to contact me, however if the answer is very long and complicated, please keep your clever ideas to yourself
I am a retired actor, although to be honest I only retired because I wasn't getting any work due to losing my agent when I became a full time carer to my mother who had dementia. and the option of becoming an unemployed actor/waiter at my age was ludicrous, especially as my waiting skills are non-existent.
Having said I’m retired, I don’t think there really is such a thing as a retired actor for I am still available for work, I just don’t have an agent or any connections with regards to obtaining any worthwhile work.
I have over the years done student films when there is nothing else available, always low paid (if at all) the only incentive was always the promised copy of the finished film for your show reel which nine times out of ten always failed to materialise.
I spent many years looking after my aged mother and shortly after her death I was lucky enough to run into an ex-girlfriend of many years ago and our romance blossomed once again, resulting in us getting married in 2013.
My move to the countryside inspired me to write The Diary of a Country Bumpkin which tells of my continuing dilemmas in dealing with the rigors of the countryside from the unexpectedly large number of pollens, fungal moulds and hay products waiting to attack the unsuspecting townie.

I am delighted to say that since venturing to the countryside where space is not quite the premium it is in town, I have due to the availability of two double garages acquired more classic cars to form a small collection the pride of which are a 1947 Bentley Mk VI and a 2000 Bentley Arnage.

I may have found the reason, and when you think about it for a couple of hours, it seems perfectly obvious.
Google found multiple URLs with the same or similar content, but you didn’t specify which version is the primary one. Consequently, Google automatically selected a URL on its own to index.
So, when I post on here I also copy the URL and post it on Facebook, so far, so good. Google then selects one as the primary version and lists it somewhere but in the meantime both are visible here and on Facebook. Now, I have no idea how to specify one as the primary version nor do I have any idea if it will make a major difference to my scheme for world domination in literature. This may explain why I haven’t been selected for the Booker prize.

I enjoyed that. I sometimes comment on the more bizarre aspects of American life, especially their strange obsession with guns. I have a friend from school days who lives in Australia who doesn’t use social media so I very rarely contact him but I’m sure he fitted into Australian culture like a glove, it seems quite laid back as a country and in many respects, I feel it would be a fun place to live. I’m not sure about the classic car or forties scene in Australia but they, especially the forties scene is a big part of our lives.
I was very lucky in my youth as we were not involved in the Vietnam war but I would have been the right age to have gone had we become involved. Much as one likes to think of oneself as hero material, I think especially as I’m getting older that I’m more suited to Dad’s Army, especially the Sergeant Wilson character. Others may see me in a different light though!
Anyway, I have gone off on one and blathered on when all I was going to say was I enjoyed your post and I must find the ‘follow’ button.
Thanks for your reply. WordPress occasionally gets weird about commenting and won’t allow it even if you are signed in. I have experienced that myself. My blog is set up so that I must approve a first time commenter. After that it should work automatically. The operative word being should.
Here in Tasmania there are quite a few car clubs but not really a forties scene the way there is in the UK. The classic car people seem to embrace the fifties scene more. There are often bands playing early rock and roll at events complete with dancers in 50s era clothing. My sister and I love Dad’s Army. John Le Mesurier’s Sergeant Wilson was one of my favourite characters. He was such a nice gentleman. As I believe the actor was too.
