I do hope things work out well for this couple in their future life together but I have to admit, I have my doubts.
Always sad when there is a rift and someone leaves a well established family firm but what worries me most is, how can you trust a man who drives an electric car especially when they have buggered up a perfectly decent classic E type Jaguar to make it!
About The Diary of a Country Bumpkin
I am a retired actor, although to be honest I only retired because I wasn't getting any work due to losing my agent when I became a full time carer to my mother who had dementia. and the option of becoming an unemployed actor/waiter at my age was ludicrous, especially as my waiting skills are non-existent.
Having said I’m retired, I don’t think there really is such a thing as a retired actor for I am still available for work, I just don’t have an agent or any connections with regards to obtaining any worthwhile work.
I have over the years done student films when there is nothing else available, always low paid (if at all) the only incentive was always the promised copy of the finished film for your show reel which nine times out of ten always failed to materialise.
I spent many years looking after my aged mother and shortly after her death I was lucky enough to run into an ex-girlfriend of many years ago and our romance blossomed once again, resulting in us getting married in 2013.
My move to the countryside inspired me to write The Diary of a Country Bumpkin which tells of my continuing dilemmas in dealing with the rigors of the countryside from the unexpectedly large number of pollens, fungal moulds and hay products waiting to attack the unsuspecting townie.
I enjoy writing, see my play Dulce Et Decorum Est Pro Patria Mori on The Wireless Theatre Company, The Plays Wot I Wrote and The Battle of Barking Creek both available on Amazon.co.uk and am very fond of classic cars so my ideal occupation would be acting in a film I had written set in the 1930s/40s, we live in hopes.
I am delighted to say that since venturing to the countryside where space is not quite the premium it is in town, I have due to the availability of two double garages acquired more classic cars to form a small collection the pride of which are a 1947 Bentley Mk VI and a 2000 Bentley Arnage.
My various blogs and websites are continually evolving and I’m sure that by following the appropriate links you will find something which will edify or amuse.
I have written a number of different books all available on Amazon, so don't be shy should you feel the urge to purchase. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mr-Joe-Wells/e/B06XKWFQHT/ref=dp_byline_cont_book_1

Haha, oh my late husband would have loved you.
Meghan Markle knew what she was marrying into when she married him. The novelty’s worn off so she decided she couldn’t handle it and was unhappy She should have stood down as a Royal, stayed out of the limelight and let him carry on doing what he was born to do.
Just saying what everyone else thinks!
You can understand why he’s gone along with her after what happened to his mother but I have a blog along those lines which I’m dying to write along with the other one about the motorcyclist who was killed by the American lady, both of whom were killed by someone going too fast; in the first the drunken driver and in the second the young man on the motorcycle. Would that be too controversial to write, I wonder?
Yes, I do understand. We have a dreadful intrusive press, but she is an American actress with an atrocious paternal family and that has left her wide open to comments, criticism and speculation. The intrusion is shameful and I feel for both of them.
What was Harry thinking? He should not have announced his intention to be a part time royal, the announcement should have come from the palace. It was foolhardy to go against Protocol.
Even I can see how complicated it would have been for him to become a part time member of the Royal firm. Rather like Europe, you’re either in or you’re out, anything in between would be too complicated.
I am a staunch royalist and at the end of the day I am hugely disappointed at this outcome.
Go for it, Joe, write your article, I shall look forward to reading it.
Exactly you can’t be a part time Royal.
I do not think she knew EXACTLY what she was marrying INTO.
She had a GENERAL IDEA, but certainly NOT the complete dossier — classified information and all that.
Added to that was, even if she was permitted to know EVERYTHING involved with marrying Harry as a Prince, do you really think Harry would have given her FULL/COMPLETE exposure?
Sure he wouldn’t lie to her, but he WANTED to marry her and he certainly wouldn’t want to send her screaming right back to Hollywood before she says, ‘I do’.
Men “generally” have a horrid habit of not being plain speaking and speaking the WHOLE truth, when they REALLY want — need even — to be with a woman.
Reason? For fear she might leave.
My mum knew of my dad’s age only AFTER they were married.
Did he lie to my mama? Absolutely not!
He just didn’t see the need to give her that particular information when she had not requested for it. (😉)
Cute isn’t it?
But when issues become this huge, it’s certainly not cute.
So ma’am, I wouldn’t assume, Megan knew all that would be required of her, if I were you. Shalom
I disagree in part. Prince Harry was born into a family where duty to the firm comes first. The firm being the Crown, the duty of every member of the family including the Queen is to the Crown, the royal institution has to come first. Everyone knows that. I doubt she would have been so naïve, she must have done her homework.
It is awful that the press have been so intrusive, I imagine Harry had hoped they would take her into their hearts, but due to her unfortunate background it was inevitable that she would become newspaper fodder. I am referring here to her career as an actress and her paternal family. Her mother has been dignified throughout.
Such a huge loss to our country.
It is very sad, shame they didn’t adopt the old fashioned way the Queen goes about it; never explain, never complain!
Oh, Joe, I so agree with you!
I’m sorry sir, but that motto is quite unrealistic in this modern day. Especially with the media mobbing going on.
It’s worked for the Queen for her entire reign and continues to do so, if you act with dignity there is every chance that you will be treated with dignity.
Well, it’s obvious there’s more to her than her career and background, or Harry would have married a British actress. As for duty to the firm coming first, you might as well freeze. Which the Crown haven’t been diligent with, unless of course, if we mean whatever is wrong is right when done by the Crown.
I have read quite jaw dropping “stories” of the Crown from ages past.
I learnt from those “stories” that the monarchy have inclinations that may differ from what is expected of them. And like it or not, believe it or not they do express themselves as they see fit. Some you see, others you don’t.
I’m afraid I don’t understand all you are attempting to say, but I respect your opinions, and I thank you for your reply.
Yes well. I’m sorry about that. Specific example, that’s I’m not too uncomfortable to mention: Charles and his madam. Would you say his… errr…behaviour was for the service of the Crown?
If we were to stretch the current conversation to include historical events, it would take more time than I have to offer. Again I thank you for your replies.
He ended up with the woman he was in love with and had protocol at the time have allowed him to marry her in the first place the whole story would have been different.
One would have expected it to have been an ideal match, as an actor she should have been used to the glare of publicity and indeed as an actor it is actually encouraged. She knew the role she was taking on when she married Harry. Sadly they gained negative publicity from the way they behaved; you can’t go about taking multiple long haul air flights and the turn round and try to lecture the rest of us about climate change, it’s hypocritical and doesn’t go down well with the public.
I see. So this is about her having an opinion that didn’t sit well with the people? What if she was taking those long flights as her wifely duties? Are you saying she must agree with how everything is done, and a difference in opinion is a disrespect to the Crown? I hope I’m not misunderstandings the situation which is why I am asking.
They weren’t taking the long haul flights for Royal duties and both Harry and Meghan were telling the rest of us not to take long haul flights which makes them both hypocrites. I am not singling out Meghan they have both made mistakes.
Oh I see. *sigh* Well, maybe now they will be more able to practice what they’ve been preaching.
I’m guessing as they are choosing to split their time between two countries they will unfortunately be taking more long haul flights. Harry has just taken three going to Canada, coming back to see the Queen and now returning to Canada again. Actions like that don’t give you the right to lecture the rest of us about climate change.
It doesn’t take that much imagination to foresee what the job entails I wouldn’t have thought.
It’s interesting to read about what people in the UK think. They’re welcome to move to Canada but most people here aren’t too keen on having to pay for their security, should it be necessary. They may get more privacy here, which Meaghan would know from having lived in Toronto when she was semi-famous. People leave you alone. No one bothered them when they were here for six weeks, never heard a peek on the Canadian news. I think he sounded disappointed that he couldn’t continue on in some kind of royal role. I guess it’s either all or nothing.
You can’t be a part time member of the Royal family.
Did Harry know that?
But he can’t be a non-member either. Or can he?
He is now!
I’m sure they will find a way to be an asset to Canada without disturbing the peace of their community — considering that’s what they seek; peace. It might be rough at first, considering there’s no template for their situation, but together I believe they would pull through and blossom.
I don’t think anyone here has an expectations of or for them – we don’t worship at the cult of celebrities here, in fact they are often ignored. Eventually they will just blend in with the rest of society and live ordinary lives in privacy which is what they seek. For the initial period I suspect they will require some security. I personally think Meghan would do well as a fashion designer. She was the spokeswoman for Reitmans a Canadian clothing chain when she lived in Toronto, and brought style to a rather frumpy woman’s store!
I don’t think the press will ever leave them alone, they are in a catch 22 situation. If they succeed doing something else they become higher profile and will therefore attract more media attention and if they try to hide the press will try harder to find out what they are up to. I am personally of the opinion that they could have an easier time of things had they stayed in the Firm and learnt how to play the game with the press. Especially Meghan should have known this, it’s just playing another role, that of Princess. Had she got it right it could have been an Oscar winning performance.
But you forget that she resigned from acting to get married. I didn’t realise being a royal is a lifetime acting job. Because if that’s the case, I can’t trust anything any British royal does again. For all I know it would be another production.
I suppose Meghan’s sin was not realising she was hired to be the exclusive actress of the Crown to the people. I’m sorry sir, but this is sounding more terrible than I thought.
You seem to be misinterpreting everything I’m wondering if English is not your first language. In answer to your comment, Normally being a member of the Royal family is a job for life, take for example the Queen who has literally done it for life and within the Royal family there are certain rules and protocols you must follow, one abides by them by acting the role. Meghan wasn’t hired to be an actress of the Crown, she chose to marry a member of the Royal family and with that choice comes certain rules of behaviour. As a simple analogy, you shouldn’t join the police force and go out robbing people. I hope this clears things up for you.
Yes sir. To a certain degree it does clear things up. I suppose I am very convinced about Meghan being innocent, that I can’t completely agree with you. But I can try to understand your point of view.
As for your first sentence. Colonialism brought English language to my country. So no, it’s not my mother tongue.
Nobody has accused Maghan of being guilty of anything, so the matter innocence doesn’t come into it.
Maybe not you, sir, which I find comforting. But a sect of the media or according to Harry (yep, we can call him that), THE media are giving him bad reminders of what they put his mother through.
Archie has been compared to a chimpanzee. 😣😪
After they had issues with her eating Avocados during her pregnancy and holding her baby bump. Kate did the same but they thought she was cute.
It’s horrendous in the media, social or otherwise. Cringe worthy I tell you.
I think you have been paying too much attention to trashy tabloid newspapers and rubbish which is not always true facts on social media.
Hmmm. You have a point there.
She did?! Now I will follow her. I’m a fashion designer – in – training.
I’ve bought two classic wrap coats from Reitmans which are just the kind of thing she wears. I think she was only their spokeswoman for a year or so and then she had to resign from it when she got engaged. I find her style very elegant and classic.
She had to resign. It’s beginning to look like if you are good at your career and you enjoy it, marry where you will be accepted as a total package. And not have your achievements seem like a dirty secret.
Unfortunately, nothing will change when they are in Canada, the press will still follow them and if they think they won’t they are very naive.
I agree on the Jaguar. Sad.
With the way Piers Morgan and co are behaving, I pray they have a fiery Spanish woman as queen one day.
I’m afraid I am unable to comment as I have no idea what Piers Morgan may have said about the matter.
