MASSIVE PROFITS CRITICISING GAS AND OIL PRODUCTION, BUT WHO IS MAKING THEM?

There has been some severe criticism of the first quarter profits from BP which have increased massively due to the high price of oil because of the Ukraine and the Iran war to an enormous £2.4 billion.

Whilst that may seem to be quite a substantial figure and let’s assume they continue to make this sort of money for the rest of the year that would be an eye watering amount at £9.6 billion.

HOWEVER, LET’S SEE WHO’S REALLY RIPPING US OFF LEFT RIGHT AND CENTRE!

I have to say I wasn’t surprised to find the real culprit in rip off Britain was, THE GOVERNMENT, but what did surprise me was the massive amount of tax they are taking and the figures I have found here are only from FUEL DUTY, God knows how much they rip us off fron the whole energy production market.

Here is the breakdown for projected fuel duty for 2025-2026 and if the price keeps rising it will be even more and bearing in mind, every time you fill your car you are contributing to these massive amounts of tax the government take from us every year!

It seems bad enough to me to pay FUEL DUTY and VAT but to also charge the producers a WINDFALL TAX as well, which we inevitably have to pay is just extracting the urine.

24 BILLION. FUEL DUTY.

179 BILLION. VAT.

2.9 BILLION. WINDFALL TAX.

£205.9 BILLION. GOVERNMENT TAX ON FUEL.

I think it safe to say, it’s not BP who are ripping us off with massive profits but our own government who one would have thought should have our best interests at heart, at least other governments have lowered the VAT whilst we are in the current situation, not so our pathetic lot.

JUST A NOTE TO THE SMUG ELECTRIC CAR OWNERS WHO MAY BE READING THIS.

ONCE THE GOVERNMENT HAVE GOT RID OF ALL THE PETROL CARS, THEY WILL BE COMING AFTER YOU TO MAKE UP THE £205.9 BILLION SHORTFALL, SO BE CAREFULL WHAT YOU WISH FOR, YOU WON’T GET IT CHEAP FOR EVER!

About The Diary of a Country Bumpkin

I am a retired actor, although to be honest I only retired because I wasn't getting any work due to losing my agent when I became a full time carer to my mother who had dementia. and the option of becoming an unemployed actor/waiter at my age was ludicrous, especially as my waiting skills are non-existent. Having said I’m retired, I don’t think there really is such a thing as a retired actor for I am still available for work, I just don’t have an agent or any connections with regards to obtaining any worthwhile work. I have over the years done student films when there is nothing else available, always low paid (if at all) the only incentive was always the promised copy of the finished film for your show reel which nine times out of ten always failed to materialise. I spent many years looking after my aged mother and shortly after her death I was lucky enough to run into an ex-girlfriend of many years ago and our romance blossomed once again, resulting in us getting married in 2013. My move to the countryside inspired me to write The Diary of a Country Bumpkin which tells of my continuing dilemmas in dealing with the rigors of the countryside from the unexpectedly large number of pollens, fungal moulds and hay products waiting to attack the unsuspecting townie. I enjoy writing, see my play Dulce Et Decorum Est Pro Patria Mori on The Wireless Theatre Company, The Plays Wot I Wrote and The Battle of Barking Creek both available on Amazon.co.uk and am very fond of classic cars so my ideal occupation would be acting in a film I had written set in the 1930s/40s, we live in hopes. I am delighted to say that since venturing to the countryside where space is not quite the premium it is in town, I have due to the availability of two double garages acquired more classic cars to form a small collection the pride of which are a 1947 Bentley Mk VI and a 2000 Bentley Arnage. My various blogs and websites are continually evolving and I’m sure that by following the appropriate links you will find something which will edify or amuse. I have written a number of different books all available on Amazon, so don't be shy should you feel the urge to purchase. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mr-Joe-Wells/e/B06XKWFQHT/ref=dp_byline_cont_book_1

Out in the sticks, our property does not have gas. We use electricity to cook and oil for hot water and heating. Three months ago, the price of our central heating oil delivery had risen to £700. Last week our delivery was £1,300! And apparently that was reduced from the week before. I am praying the warmer weather continues.

    • Are you paying commercial prices as I looked it up and it said under 2300 litres you only pay 5% VAT but over that you pay 20% VAT. I have no idea if it means 2300 per delivery or per year and add to that farmers inheritance tax, it’s only a matter of time before we won’t have any farms at all. Having said that where we are an awful lot of what was farm land is now massive housing estates. There is no logic to anything any more, the only saving grace with that is, I don’t have to struggle looking for a subject to write about. It must be a legacy from the war, it doesn’t matter how bad things get and how we are constantly ripped off by the government but we remain stoic, never complain and just keep calm and carry on. We should be in the streets, rioting and setting fire to sheep like the French do. It’s bloody tragic, no matter how many times farmers drive their tractors through London and the government ignore them, I have a suspicion they don’t like them!

No, we pay domestic prices. A large chunk of green belt farmland at the far side of the village now has an estate on it, and the Labour council is planning on taking more from our side of the village.

      • We went to York at the weekend and petrol was 25p a litre cheaper than where we are in Bishops Stortford. I always buy E5 as it has less ethanol and is better for the car but E5 is generally 15p or more expensive than E10 wherever you go, so we are subsidising the price of the petrol most people buy. Sadly, everywhere you go it’s the same, great housing estates everywhere and yet the houses keep selling but I have to wonder, who on earth is buying them, where are they coming from?

Part of the new estate here was designated for social housing.
My daughter works at the village school. She tells me that the social housing families have altered the school’s dynamics, but not for the better. I’m sure there are some lovely families, but unfortunately, others aren’t.
Somebody told me that all new estates must include social housing.

  2. Where we are they won’t get planning permission unless they include the social housing, it’s usually placed at the back of the development where it won’t be seen. Uncut lawns and old matresses and sofas in the front garden is not a look that sells an estate to normal folk!
