Game of Thrones is over.

I cannot tell you how delighted I am that Game of Thrones is over, I absolutely loathe and detest it and even worse the pointless discussion after the programme.

It is without a doubt a Marmite show, my wife loves it and has inflicted it on me on quite a few occasions.

It’s over, it’s over, there is a God after all!!

About The Diary of a Country Bumpkin

I am a retired actor, although to be honest I only retired because I wasn't getting any work and the option of becoming an unemployed actor/waiter at my age was ludicrous, especially as my waiting skills are non-existent. Having said I’m retired, I don’t think there really is such a thing as a retired actor for I am still available for work, I just don’t have an agent or any connections with regards to obtaining any worthwhile work. I have over the years done student films when there is nothing else available, always low paid (if at all) the only incentive was always the promised copy of the finished film for your show reel which nine times out of ten always failed to materialise. I spent many years looking after my aged mother who had dementia, hence the lack of acting work but shortly after her death I was lucky enough to run into an ex-girlfriend of many years ago and our romance blossomed once again, resulting in us getting married in 2013. My move to the countryside inspired me to write The Diary of a Country Bumpkin which tells of my continuing dilemmas in dealing with the rigors of the countryside from the unexpectedly large number of pollens, fungal moulds and hay products waiting to attack the unsuspecting townie. I enjoy writing, see my play Dulce Et Decorum Est Pro Patria Mori on The Wireless Theatre Company, The Plays Wot I Wrote and The Battle of Barking Creek both available on Amazon.co.uk and am very fond of classic cars so my ideal occupation would be acting in a film I had written set in the 1930s/40s, we live in hopes. I am delighted to say that since venturing to the countryside where space is not quite the premium it is in town, I have due to the availability of two double garages acquired more classic cars to form a small collection the pride of which are a 1947 Bentley Mk VI and a 2000 Bentley Arnage. My various blogs and websites are continually evolving and I’m sure that by following the appropriate links you will find something which will edify or amuse.

  1. I managed to avoid it all, apart from the endless discussion that is!

  2. Heard they are demanding the last episode be rewritten as the writer hasn’t finished the books.
Haven’t watched a single one, and not interested.

Never watched it either, as I was so bored during Episode 1 that I switched it off. Could not understand the fuss.

  4. I’ve never seen it either, but feel your pain. I believe they’re writing prequels, however..sorry about that!

  5. I’ve never seen any episodes. People kept asking me if I watch it. For the longest time I didn’t know what it actually was. Glad to know I’m in good company.

    • I think you’re very lucky not to have watched it! I have no understanding why adults would want to watch what is effectively a fairy story with rival kingdoms and dragons, the sort of thing young children would watch.

  6. Timothy Price says:

I’ve never seen it, as I don’t have a TV, and probably wouldn’t have watched it anyway; however, a lot of people talk about. It sounds horrible, and I feel sorry for you that it’s been inflicted on you. Now that it’s over, maybe we non-believers can get some peace.

  7. SueW says:

I’ve never watched it. Each of my children warned me against it. “Mum don’t watch it, you will hate it, the language is appalling and the violence is sickening!” It didn’t stop any of them watching it though!

    • I can’t understand why adults would want to watch a fairy story with dragons but I suppose they call it a fantasy movie like Batman and Spiderman, although I can’t see the point of them either. I am currently watching the television drama about Chernobyl which is fascinating as it’s based on a true event, this sort of drama makes sense to me.

      • SueW says:

I don’t mind a fairy story but I can’t handle the violence and bad language. I don’t understand why writers think bad language brings anything to a plot. That’s not entertainment.. A good story doesn’t need it. A good writer should be able to do do better than that. Sorry I’m going off on one again! 😀

      • Game of Thrones makes you “go off on one!”

  8. Jessica says:

Haha 😂 , you must have hated it so bad to even thank the god it’s over.
As for me, quite a few friends had encouraged me to watch it. I haven’t seen a single episode until now. Not because I don’t want, I just have no extra time to spend for it.

  9. Ade-Oluwa says:

I had a ‘bad’ feeling about it. Like it was going to damage me morally or corrupt me. I didn’t want to be on tenterhooks either waiting for the next episode. I’m trying to avoid TV soaps and series so I can get a life.
Now if it was a movie, I may have been tempted. Then the word “game” in relation to “thrones” suggested to me that it will be a lot of psychopathic display than anything good. So yeah, finally I can go on social media without an obsessed fan drooling over something I don’t feel is “safe” for me to watch.

  10. Joni says:

I thought I was the only person in the universe who had never seen a single episode.

  11. I am sad it’s over. I personally thought it was the best show ever created. It wasn’t for everyone and that’s fine. I’ve never wished for a show to be over because I didn’t like it or get it, lol!!

  12. Ah – but there’s bound to be a prequel – so be prepared!

I hated it too, never saw what the fuss was about even though I love Fantasy and Sci-fi (mostly). Marmite on the other hand I love, so I’m now off to have some toast.
