The Diary of a Country Bumpkin

Here are a few more images of our Christmas festivities, although not everyone is in shot as can be seen from the spare hats on the table, one daughter rushed off straight away to avoid being on camera whilst the other immediately volunteered to take the photo.

The other children and my wife seem to have attempted to hide their faces, I can assure you that although it looks as if they are trying to avoid identification none of them have anything to hide and are indeed as innocent as can possibly be.

As can be seen from the other images myself and the grandchildren are nowhere as reticent as the others to appear on camera.

I see the Labour party have brought in Ed Miliband to form a committee to discover why they lost the General Election. No doubt this will cost a considerable  amount of money which seems a little silly when there are millions of people out there who could tell them for nothing.

I’m delighted to say my wife has had a sudden change of heart and has now decided to brave the elements of social networking by allowing me to upload a photo from our weekend away at Riviera Swing.

Once again, thank you to all who made this weekend such a fabulous time for both of us.

What an absolutely fabulous time my wife and I had at our first visit to Riviera Swing, a weekend jam packed with dance classes, sing alongs, film shows, vintage clothing, first class DJ’s and bands and especially wonderful like minded people who made us both feel so very welcome.

Unfortunately my wife has become somewhat reticent about her image being displayed on my blog and elsewhere, which is rather a shame as I didn’t think we scrubbed up too badly in our outfits, especially for relative beginners.

I am therefore rather reluctantly left with no alternative but to post a photo of the view from our Torquay hotel bedroom window, although I was a little disappointed at the lack of passing Wildebeests, it didn’t spoil an otherwise brilliant weekend.

With Remembrance Day upon us I thought it might be appropriate to post details of one of my plays which was produced by The Wireless Theatre Company.

Just to point out to all the people who keep going on about football, cricket, rugby and all the other sports here is a statistic for you, British driver Lewis Hamilton has just won his 6th Formula 1 World Championship.

Well done Lewis.

One hates to keep harping on about this child but it seems from the news last night that during the last few weeks she has been travelling across the United States from coast to coast to promote the cause of global warming, I assume she didn’t walk.

On the other hand I have been down to the shops about five times, which leaves me to wonder which one of us has the smaller carbon footprint?

I MUST SAY I’M A LITTLE FED UP WITH THE IDIOT EXTINCTION REBELLION PROTESTERS WHO HAVE BEEN STOPPING THE TRAFFIC IN LONDON WHICH CAUSES EXTRA POLLUTION AS EVERYONE HAS TO TRY TO FIND AN ALTERNATIVE ROUTE TO DRIVE ROUND THESE PEOPLE.

TOGETHER WITH THE LUVVIES WHO ADMIT THEMSELVES THAT THEY ARE HYPOCRITES BY FLYING ALL OVER THE WORLD AND THEN COMPLAINING ABOUT CLIMATE CHANGE.

IF THEY WANT TO PROTEST ABOUT CLIMATE CHANGE I SUGGEST THEY FIND A MEANS OF DOING SO WHICH DOESN’T ADD TO POLLUTION.

THE CLIMATE HAS CHANGED EVER SINCE THIS PLANET WAS FORMED AND NO DOUBT WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO.

OBVIOUSLY MOST OF THE YOUNG PEOPLE WHO ARE PROTESTING ARE TOO YOUNG TO REMEMBER WHEN IN THE 1970’S THE SCIENTISTS PREDICTED THE IMPENDING  ICE AGE, I WONDER WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THAT?

My how time flies, the wife and I went to The Goodwood Revival classic motor racing meeting a month ago and I have only just found time to quickly put up a few photos from the weekend.

Thursday started with our drive down to West Sussex in our 1947 Mk VI Bentley and to go to Goodwood House to watch the annual cricket match and to meet friends.

In the evening we booked into the rather splendid Old Railway Station hotel in Petworth where we have been staying for some many years, great fun as the bedrooms are converted railway carriages.

Dashing off to the Badgers Pub next door to meet friends and have a fabulous night, then finally to bed.

Friday morning and off to the circuit and a quick visit to Bonhams auction, sadly there was nothing within my price range! I seem to remember the Bugatti was priced in millions.

The rather splendid W O Bentley was somewhat more reasonably estimated.

Back to The Badgers for grub, quite a few drinks and a fabulous time chatting with friends again.

Saturday and off to the circuit to spend the day flitting between The March Enclosure, The Members Enclosure and the multiplicity of shopping outlets for vintage clothes and other things.

There was a fabulous WW2 display which stretched the entire length of the straight, very impressive.

More of the same on Sunday including a quick visit to the paddock which was next on the agenda.

As a Bentley owner and member of the Bentley Drivers Club the highlight of the racing weekend for me was the stunning vintage Bentley race, sadly I was too engrossed during the race to take a photo but here they after they finished.

The weather during the weekend was wonderful which helped to make this one of the better Goodwood Revivals we have had, however I always think the thing that makes the weekend is the time spent with friends. I must say I’m looking forward to next year already!
